Rina Banerjee received her training in painting at Yale School of Art ,Yale University, where she acquired her MFA degree. She has received awards such as Drawing Award Norfolk-Yale, Skowhegan School of Painting scholarship. Ms. Banerjee has been an active educator in the area of Cultural Studies and Women's Studies in Visual Arts while teaching at Bucknell University, Yale University, and Penn State University, University of Chicago, and Cooper Union before coming to teach at Bennington College. She has been an active visiting artist giving lectures at Stanford University, Chicago Institute of Art, Queens Museum, Whitney Museum, Mills College, University of Minessota , Parson's School of Design, Virginia Commonwealth University, and Old Dominion University.

Banerjee's work was a focus in the 2000 Whitney Biennial, Brent Sikema, Bose Pacia Modern Gallery, Debs and Co. Gallery, Bronx Museum, New Museum, and Queens Museum acquiring favorable reviews in Art News, Art Forum, and Art in America. Presently her can be viewed at Mass Museum of Contemporary Art in North Adams in an exhibition "Yankee Remix" reviewed and highlighted in the New York Times, cover story in The Boston Globe and Albany Times Union. She has exhibited abroad in Madrid, Durban, Africa and India.
